"Abortion Song" protests against the idea that abortion is an issue of women's rights or religion. The song begins with stating that it is not an issue of women's rights or of religion, and therefore does not support the "pro-life vs pro-choice" situation that people are presented with in light of abortion. The song's main verse was improvised entirely and consists of someone who turns out to be the baby, and starts to sing about how it feels inside the womb and that he wants to live. The song is also a protest against negative thinking, pessimism and suicide. People who are suicidal often try to suggest that they are a "mistake" or feel like they are, and that they were not meant to be alive. The fact of abortion itself can re-assert this sense of feeling like a mistake, and that it can feed into people's negative view point of life and being alive. The current society of Western countries includes pornography and what many see as over-sexualized culture, which can be seen as to devalue our sense of self worth and not consider our bodies to be something to take good care of.
