Frederick Roussel

Frederick Roussel is a singer-songwriter and producer. He also plays guitar, which is the instrument he uses to write his songs on. His genres are mainly pop-rock-country, and this includes outlaw country, hip hop beats, and guitar lead rock n roll songs. In terms of his style, much of his music sounds retro and old-school and much sounds contemporary and modern. The outlaw country music of artists such as Johnny Cash, and 50s rock n roll asthetic can be heard on songs like Republican Convention Speech and Soldier's Revenge. Meanwhile 20 Gigabiters, AK47 Song and Mafia Freestyle have a 1980s Hip Hop style. Freestyle and improvisation play a major role in songs broadcasting on Roussel Radio, and much of the Roussel Radio Super Mix is improvised, moment to moment song-creation. Some of Frederick's songs are broadcasts and others are tracks which can be downloaded -like the McPeace album. Much of his music consists of some kind of contemporary sounding percussion sound and an electro-acoustic guitar. His choice for drums is usually big brash rugged beats, loud snares and hard bassbeats. His guitar style ranges, yet is never complicated. Often he records his guitar parts using a wah-wah effect which is common in psychadelic 60s music, and also using a reverb effect which can be heard in country music and rock n roll of the 50s-60s. As a singer he usually accounts of 80% of the song, and, due to his more virtuosic performance abilities, keeps the background music simple. Frederick Roussel is a protest singer, who speaks out against social injustices, and challenges contemporary views on a range of issues. His songs are lyrically concerned with political issues, ranging from the state of the current international justice system, homophobic religions, computer company greed and corruption, state controlled systems where the government seeks to control all aspects of a citizen's life, attitudes of police and law enforcement officials towards crime and murder and surveillance and media intrusion, the current trends in the music industry which can lead to social breakdown and isolation, and the idea of a war being waged on an invisible enemy and sold back to us as a product.
