Tim Benson

Tim Martin Benson was born on November 3rd, 1987. He is a Chicago artist whose inspirations come from all genres of music. Fitting no traditional mold, Benson’s characterizations are as uncertain as the age he began to sing. Benson first realized that he wanted to pursue a career in music when he was in grade school. Later as he became influenced by the likes of New Edition, Jodeci and Boyz II Men, his interest in music grew. Today, Benson finds singing as a form of expression that is of no comparison to anything else that he knows; it is his identity.

In high school, the group TriEnd was formed. TriEnd comprised of Benson, along with his two brothers Aaron and Mathew. In 2007, the group took 2nd place at the Showtime At The Apollo in Harlem, New York. Later that year, TriEnd began recording with the Insomniax. In 2008, Benson began working on a solo album with the Insomniax, because he believes that he has his own individual message to portray. Imbedded in his musical ideology is the desire to reintroduce the “heart-felt love song.” According to Benson, love is the strongest emotion, and he feels that there is an absence of heart-felt emotional appeal in music and lyrics today. According to Benson and the Insomniax, “It is our goal, to make songs for the ladies that the guys are going to want to play.”
