The Hot Showers

Formed in Montreal by long-time friends Shawn van de Peppel and Chris Harding, The Hot Showers started out as most bands do, a couple of guys just wanting to play music and cover their favourite songs. Soon enough they found the vocalist/guitarist they were looking for in Michael O'Narey and started writing songs together. The 3 of them stayed through numerous line-up changes until Frank Dupont came in on guitar and brought an amazing style that was the missing ingredient in the Hot Showers' sound; i.e. the band finally had someone who could strum rhythm like it’s nobody’s business. Having written tons of songs, played countless gigs throughout Montreal and Quebec, and recorded both at their space, as well as a demo at Studio Loco, the band decided it was time to start thinking about recording a first full length album. The working demos ended up on a 4-track CD entitled Bunny Hugs, which the band gave away at shows and was a free download through the website. From there on, they spent over one and a half years planning and recording their very first album, Memories Of Melodies, which is out right now on iTunes, Amazon and all fine musical retailers. To avoid riots in the long dry spell of releases, the band also put out Baden Baden in late 2009, offering up acoustic takes on a few of their songs and releasing a couple electric ones. For the most part, Memories of Melodies was self-recorded. The title sums up a lot about the sound of The Hot Showers: a band very much influenced by rock 'n roll in all its different forms through the years - the album offers an understanding on the variety of the genre, without losing track of the band's unique sound. The band has numerous tour plans ahead and an already-impressive track record; they recently played a spot opening for the UK's Frank Turner as well two dates for legendary glam-punk Jesse Malin and are featured alongside NOFX, Joey Cape, Wayne Kramer, Grimskunk and many more on the "Music 4 Cancer" compilation album benefitting the Canadian Cancer Society. With the compilation reaching number 11 on HMV's Album Download Chart, it's safe to say that this is just the beginning in The Hot Showers' musical journey. The band released their first full-length album in Montreal at Petit Campus on July 3rd - and now... well, many more beers, songs and shows to come.
