Raven Woods

Raven Woods was founded by Ozan Yıldırım and Cihan Engin in 1998, Ankara TR. At these years band was following melodic black metal path and release their first MCD ‘’ In Silent Agony’’ with Zoo Sound Records. With release of ‘’In Silent Agony’’ series of gigs and festivals started up to spread the insane and tune the audiences. Especially with the performance at RS Fest the band got full marks from the Rock Hard Magazine.
Raven Woods continued taking part on gigs while they were suffering of inevitable line-up changes. Only Cihan Engin and Ozan Yıldırım were left from the ‘’In Silent Agony’’. Band managed to establish a new line-up by replacing old members with Cihan Akün (Guitars) and Aybars Altay (Vocals). Due to lack of skilled drummers in Turkey, Ozan picked up Drum sticks for a while and they started working on their first full length album «…And Emotions Are Spilled» which was the beginning of a new era for the band. With the end of producing period, band signed the contract with Atlantis Music and released the album at 2006. «…And Emotions Are Spilled» consists of 8 tracks which are built on old-school and modern elements of black/death metal, emotionally harmonized with partial clean vocals, crushing guitars and acoustic ambient parts. Mercan Dede, worldwide famous Ney artist of Sufi Music take part in this album with his enchanting breath in various songs and lead to a mystified path that’s going deeper to your heart and soul. Cover artwork created by critically acclaimed photography artist Mehmet Turgut. «…And Emotions Are Spilled» was eventually praised by both Turkish audience and metal media and led them to play with Europe’s leading acts like Orphaned Land, Destruction and Sodom. «…And Emotions Are Spilled» has re-printed and published 2 times and called as «the band setting the new standards for extreme metal in Turkey».
After release of the first full length, at the end of 2010 band signed the contract with the well known Italian label CODE666 and started working on new album «Enfeebling The Throne» which has completed shortly after. «Enfeebling The Throne» is the second «Concept» album by RW which is philosophically and musically unique. Again Mercan Dede take part in «Enfeebling The Throne» with his Ney and deepen the death/black metal sound with eastern mysticism.
We did not run after empty words, we did not obey the crowns, we did not believe their lies…We are rising from underground , summoning for ENFEEBLING THE THRONE!
