Биография Narcoleptic Youth
NARCOLEPTIC YOUTH JOEY BONDAGE – VOCALS JAY SIN – GUITAR NICK NAUTIOUS – GUITAR JUNIOR MINT – BASS JOHNNY CAT SCABIES - DRUMS Narcoleptic Youth has been making a name for themselves on the punk scene since 1992, churning out their blend of ‘purified’ punk for the masses. During that time span the band has amassed a legion of rabid old school and second generation fans, which have propelled Narcoleptic Youth to headlining status. Musically and vocally, the band sits squarely between The Damned and the Dead Kennedy’s, but the show and the songs are spectacularly original. Narcoleptic Youth have established a long an well deserved live reputation, having shared the stage with the likes of FEAR, The Adicts, The Business, Dropkick Murphys, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Agent Orange, D.I., The Misfits, Angry Samoans, UK SUBS, Vice Squad, Youth Brigade, TSOL, The Adolescents, and their biggest show to date in front of over 5,000 people with The Subhumans! Still in high school and stuck in Southern California’s Inland Empire (about an hour from Orange County and two hours from L.A.), Narcoleptic Youth was born from sheer boredom and frustration about various issues surrounding their life. From the start, the band didn’t care. They didn’t care about credibility, didn’t care about lack of talent, didn’t care about criticism and they sure as hell didn’t care about impressing anyone. The band actually started out as really nothing more than an "inside joke" with members from another band, Los Cincos (Honeywell). The band played a few shows under various names throughout 1992 but the fun was put on hold in 1993 when lead vocalist Joey Bondage went off to college. Over a Christmas break, Joey came back to Corona and Narcoleptic Youth’s first ”official” practice consisting of a few cover songs and "Child Molester" came to be. Within a few weeks the band had their first gig set up. The band thought they sucked. The crowd loved them. Go figure. By the end of 1994, the band decided to go with the name Narcoleptic Youth for good and thus began the evolution of Narcoleptic Youth as a band. The line up at that time consisted of Johnny Cat Scabies on Drums, Joel Vicious on Bass, Mr. E on Guitar, and Joey Bondage on Vocals. This was the original 4 piece line up. In 1996, bassist Joel Vicious chose to part ways with the band to pursue a career as a mechanic, but just before Joel’s departure the band recorded their first album. The album was to become their first demo released on cassette only entitled THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE FUGLY. The session was actually recorded in the living room of friend Paul Miner (Clean X/Death By Stereo) for a measly $50 and featured Jim Miner (Clean X/Death By Stereo) and Efrem Shultz (Clint / Death By Stereo) joining in on backup vocals. Shortly thereafter, current band member, Binky the Elf, came around and before long was enlisted on bass. About a month later the band geared up for their first major show, a battle of the bands at the Showcase Theater in Corona, CA. Though they didn’t feel they were ready, they gave it their all and actually ended up finishing fifth out of thirty bands! Not bad for a band that started as a joke! Just after their successful stint at the battle of the bands show, current guitarist Jay Sin came into the picture and stepped up as Narcoleptic Youth’s second guitarist. The stint was a short one however, as Jay Sin was set to study abroad, so he packed his bags and went off to merry, old England. In his absence another body, Pep Rally, stepped in to fill the role as bassist, moving Binky the Elf to guitar. Upon Jay Sin’s return from England, the band was plagued with the problem of too many guitarists, so long time member Mr. E stepped down from his duties. Fast forwarding to 2003, as bassist Pep Rally parted ways with the band, former member of Subversion and long time Narcoleptic Youth fan, Nick Nautious, stepped into the role of bass guitar. With the band line up solidly in place, a string of successful shows under their belt and an impressive collection of self released singles and the like, in November of 2004, aligned with Orange County based indie punk record label Finger Records, a new project comprised of their years of blood, sweat and tears in sonic form, CHRONOLOGICAL DISORDER, was released. The CD is a collage of works spanning the band’s almost ten year life span and infestation of the punk scene. Much of the material compiled for this new project consists of singles, B-sides and rarities that are either near impossible to find or have been out of print for years and is a must have for any Narcoleptic Youth fan; In addition, the release also includes newly recorded material. The track listings are sequenced with the most recent songs to the oldest (hence the name Chronological Disorder), and also includes several bonus tracks consisting of the earliest ever recordings and a live hidden track. With album completed and in stores now, the band is not resting by any means. The boys of Narcoleptic Youth are tearing the roofs off of venues throughout the west coast and are readying themselves to embark on a full scale tour in 2005. In 2005 long time guitarist Binky The Elf was released from the band on good terms, and still remain good friends with the band. Junior Mint joined in to take on the bass guitar duties and Nick Nautious switched from bass to rhythm guitar. The band is sounding better than ever in the studio and live on stage, playing all the hits as well as new future classics of the bands full catalog spanning over a decade. Summer 2008 - The band is currently recording an all new full length album to be released on Dr. Strange Records, release date & title have not been announced.
