Биография Jeff Caylor
Woody Allen said “80% of success is showing up.” And so for the past year, Jeff Caylor has been showing up for his own life. “We can convince ourselves that the best times are just around the corner or we can begin to live right now,” Caylor says. Jeff Caylor grew up in Indiana, but moved to Colorado in 1997 to work in radio production. Caylor had written music seriously since high school, but in 2004, he penned a song called Meet Me at the Table. “I wrote the song for my church and started getting really good feedback,” Jeff says. The demand from friends and friends of friends quickly became so great, he decided to produce a 4-song EP of the same name. The discs were reproduced manually on CD-Rs with all the printing done on laser color printers. Almost three years later, Caylor released a proper album containing one of the songs from that recording, “Pain is a Megaphone,” reworked with a full band. That album was called Okay and it received enough great press to help the independent artist decide he wanted to get out of the radio business; at least as a producer. Reviews of Okay earned Caylor comparisons to Seal and John Mayer, but also began proving him as an artist worthy of his own merit, aside from the comparisons. TheAlbumProject.net named Jeff Caylor the best unsigned artist of 2007 and ChristianityToday.com ranked Okay the 5th best album of 2007, ahead of other well-known acts on the list, including Switchfoot, Relient K and the David Crowder Band. This is unusually high praise for an independent artist with virtually no touring experience or promotional budget. So why would an indie singer-songwriter with so much momentum decide to pick up and move around the world? Jeff Caylor believes it will only make him a more compelling artist. “I want to make art that inspires people to live beyond themselves and to make decisions that impact an ever-widening sphere of influence. I want to challenge people’s ideas about what the next thing they should do in life is. Too often we put ourselves in one category and then we put other people who live abroad or change the world in another category.” During this season in Asia, Jeff Caylor is promoting What Birds Dream, his 2nd independent album in 2 years. Caylor plays regularly in Hong Kong’s most popular local music venues. “I love to play live and I’m still doing it on a regular basis in Hong Kong, but I’m trying to be selective about where I spend my time right now. I put a lot of effort into my online presence and creative ways for people around the world to discover my music and interact with me.” Several of Caylor’s performances in venues from Colorado to Hong Kong have been broadcast live using internet streaming services such as Ustream.tv and Qik.com. What Birds Dream is an eclectic group of songs ranging from acoustic soul to up-tempo rock, peppered with Caylor’s signature singer-songwriter honesty. The 12-song project was released June 2, 2009 and is available on Amazon.com, iTunes, and at jeffcaylor.com/store.
