Cook da Books were a Liverpool band (Kirkby) 'The Books' Had some success in the 80's playing to pub crowds. They moved up a level to perform alongside such artists as 'Joan Armatrading' , 'Men at Work' and a few other 80's mainstream artists with the promise of a record deal that never really materialised for them. A shame really, The band's lack of commercial success did not accurately reflect the energy and appeal that they generated at live performances. The band had some success in France with the No 1 single 'Your Eyes' but they seemed to fall by the wayside after this and fell into obscurity. I think it's fair to say that Owen Moran, Digsy, Tony Prescott and John Legget will not be forgotten by anyone who went along to see them perform. Check out "Golden age" or "Low Profile". Great pop songs from a band who should have gone further.
